Class A SZ80 - what is it?
The key number 80 was actually intended for trikes that could be ridden openly from the age of 21. However, this can also be changed to class A.
There are basically different ways to obtain an open A driving license.
You can either start at a young age with category A1 and then obtain category A after a few years through the so-called “graduated driving license” or you can start category A directly at the age of 23.5.
Probably the least known way to obtain an open A driving license is with the key number 80, but you always have to weigh up whether this makes sense.
The MEGA advantage of the key number 80
If you have already obtained your A1 driving license from the age of 16 and A2 from the age of 18, you are allowed to drive an open machine from the age of 20. However, you must always gain two years of practical experience between each level and pass a practical test.
A big advantage of the SZ 80 is that you can take your training and test on the big machine. However, once you have passed the test, you are only allowed to drive class A2 machines. As soon as you reach your 24th birthday, you can switch directly to the large machine without taking the test.
The training of the SZ 80 corresponds to that of class A.
Is SZ80 an option for you?
Whether the key number 80 is an option for you depends on two factors:
- You are at least 21.5 years old, but not yet in possession of category A2, but would like to get the "big" motorcycle license one day.
- Your 24th birthday is still a long way off
Frequently asked questions about the SZ80
The motorcycle driving license A SZ80 (also known as A80 for short) is suitable for people who are between 21 and 24 years old and are currently planning to obtain an A2 driving license.
You must be at least 21 years old to obtain a category A driver's license with the code number 80. The practical training and the test are then carried out in the same way as for category A training. This means that you will also take all practical lessons and the test on a category A motorcycle.
The theory test can be taken 3 months before the 21st birthday, and the practical driving test one month before.
Until you reach the minimum age of 24, you may only ride throttled motorcycles with 48 hp in driving license category A2. From the age of 24, you may ride motorcycles without power restrictions.
Yes, if you have already obtained category B or A1, you will only have 6 double hours of theory lessons for the basic material. The class-specific material remains the same.
